OCALA, Fla. – In the final day of its season, the University of Utah's swim team found three medals and a Swimmer of the Meet award in Ocala, Fla. at the FAST Facility on Saturday.
"This was a great experience," said head coach
Jonas Persson. "I'm happy and really proud of everyone and it was a lot of fun to have Erin be the swimmer of the meet."
Top of the Lane
- Durgan McKean brought in the first medal of the night for the Utes, taking silver in the 200-yard IM with a time of 48.53.
- Taking charge of the mile, or the 1,650-yard freestyle, Quinn Jones swam in at 15:03.38 for the gold, adding a personal best and the sixth-fastest time in Utah history.
- Not far behind, Jones Lambert grabbed the silver medal with a time of 15:09.76, also earning a personal best.
Swimmers Swimming Swims
- In the 100-IM, Kelson Flynn finished his B-final swim at 50.10 for 17th-place.
- In the same race on the women's side, Erin Palmer clocked a 55.76 to finish in 13th-place.
- Rylee McColley touched the wall at 2:14.47 in the 200-yard breast, finishing her race in the 13th slot.
- Evan VanBrocklin finished in eighth-place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:47.32.
- In the same race, Jakub Walter touched in at 1:47.23 to finish in 12th-place.
- Owen Calrsen finished his 1,650-free at 15:36.20, out-touching a swimmer for ninth-place.
- The men's team finished the meet off with a fifth-place swim in the 400-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 2:56.38.
- On the women's side, their relay finished at 3:23.74.
Looking Ahead
Taking on the NCAA Championships, three Utah divers will represent the Utes and travel to Federal Way, Wash. to compete for a national title on March. 19-22.
