IRVING, Texas— The Red Rocks made a splash in their first season in the Big 12 Conference placing eight gymnasts in All-Big 12 Teams.
The Big 12 vault, bars, beam, floor, and all-around teams were determined by an individual gymnast's NQS (National Qualifying Score) in each event, while the All-Freshman team was voted on by the Big 12 coaches. Utah placed at least one gymnast in every category.
Makenna Smith (9.935),
Ella Zirbes (9.86),
Ashley Glynn (9.855), and
Grace McCallum (9.85) took home four of six spots on the All-Big 12 vault team.
Three Red Rocks earned the nod on bars with McCallum (9.955),
Amelie Morgan (9.89), and Zirbes (9.885) taking top spots.
Utah cleaned up on beam, claiming another four out of six spots with McCallum leading the charge (9.94), followed by
Camie Winger (9.905), Smith (9.895), and Morgan (9.885).
Smith (9.93), McCallum (9.915), and
Jaylene Gilstrap (9.90) got the honors on floor for the Red Rocks to round out the individual event teams.
Utah was represented well in the all-around by McCallum (39.605) and Smith (39.600) finishing one and two in the league in NQS, while
Avery Neff was recognized by the coaches in the conference as one of six outstanding freshman for the Big-12 All-Freshman team.
