SALT LAKE CITY – The 2025 Fall academic performance by Utah's student-athletes ranks among the best in the department's history, with the combined grade-point-average of 3.418 landing in the No. 3 spot all-time. It is the department's best for a fall semester, ranking behind only the 3.573 figure from Spring 2020 and the 3.427 GPA from Spring 2021.

Utah Athletics has now achieved 39 consecutive semesters with a departmental GPA of 3.00 or higher.

A total of 232 student-athletes—a record 50.3%—made the Dean's List with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, topping the 50-percent mark for the second time in the past three semesters. In addition, 374 student-athletes (81.1%) were named to the A.D.'s Honor Roll with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
"Our tremendous student-athletes are elite in all aspects of their lives, and continue to reflect the very best of the values of the University of Utah and Utah Athletics," said
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. "This is another outstanding illustration of the excellence they achieve in their academic pursuits, while competing for championships, and is a reflection of the incredible support they receive from coaches, staff and the entire university."
Alongside the third-best GPA in department history, the achievements of Utah's fall sports programs in competition included:
- The football program going 11-2 and winning the Las Vegas Bowl
- Volleyball returning to the NCAA tournament
- Women's cross-country finishing in the top 20 at the NCAA Championships for the fourth year in a row
- Men's golf was ranked No. 1 in the Oct. 15 ClippdScore D1 golf rankings, and reached as high as No. 17 in the Bushnell/GolfWeek rankings.
The record-setting GPAs continue to parallel the department's tremendous success in NCAA graduation rates. Utah tied its highest figure in the NCAA's GSR for the second year in a row and third time overall
with a score of 95-percent in the most recent report posted in November. It marked the eighth consecutive year that Utah's score has met or exceeded the 93-percent benchmark, and tied for the second-highest mark among all public institutions in power conferences.

Other Fall 2025 Academic Highlights
- 57 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 GPA
- The women's gymnastics team earned the highest team fall semester GPA of all sports with a 3.832, its highest on record for a semester.
- The men's side was led by the ski team for the 11th consecutive semester, earning a 3.621 GPA, topping the 3.568 that led all men's programs in the spring of 2025.

Program-Specific Highlights
- Women's gymnastics—the five-time defending conference champion (4 Pac-12, 1 Big 12) and fourth-place finisher at the NCAA Championships—has earned a team semester GPA of 3.00 or higher for 61 consecutive semesters.
- Men's skiing, women's cross-country and volleyball have earned team semester GPAs of 3.0 or higher for 36 consecutive semesters.
- The men's lacrosse program's 3.511 GPA is a program record.
