ATLANTA – Senior
Kathryn Grant competed for the second day in a row at the NCAA Division I Women's National Championships on Thursday afternoon inside the McAuley Aquatic Center.
"Kathryn is one of the toughest competitors I've ever coached and she proved that again today," head diving coach
Richard Marschner said. "She takes a lot of pride in being one of only 16 women in the country to qualify on all three events and she has embraced that mental and physical challenge wholeheartedly throughout her career."
After finishing in 32nd place on the 1-meter springboard yesterday, Grant placed 45th on the 3-meter board on Friday with a 238.65 total. Her best dive came in the sixth round when she scored 55.50 on her forward 2 ½ somersault 1 twist pike.
"Too often people look for the easy way out or make excuses and Kat has never done that," Marschner added. "She finished her 3m career with a great full out and is one of the best all-around divers in the country."
Friday marked the second-career 3-meter competition for Grant at the NCAA Championships, last reaching NCAAs during the 2024 season when she placed 46th on the board.
Looking Ahead
Grant will close out her collegiate career with the platform diving event on Saturday, March 21. Prelims begin at 10:15 a.m. MT.
