SPARKS, Md. – Senior
Nikko DiPonio has earned All-America Honorable Mention recognition from USA Lacrosse, the organization announced Thursday.
DiPonio, who was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row last week, was named an All-America Honorable Mention by USA Lacrosse, USILA and Inside Lacrosse in 2025.
Thirty-eight Division I programs are represented and 98 players have earned All-America honors this year. Princeton had the most representatives (eight), followed by Richmond (seven), and then Syracuse, Notre Dame and North Carolina with six apiece. All-Americans were chosen by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff with input from coaches and conferences across the country.
DiPonio started all 14 games for Utah this season, causing a program-record 37 turnovers and nabbing 85 ground balls to go with a goal and five assists. He ranked second nationally and led the ASUN with 2.64 caused turnovers per game and ranked 21st nationally with 6.08 ground balls per game, the highest mark among position players.
The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native tallied 108 caused turnovers during his four-year Utah career, becoming the first Utah Ute to ever eclipse 100. He also becomes just the second player in program history to nab more than 300 ground balls and is the first non-FOGO to do so.
DiPonio was selected 24th overall by the New York Atlas in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft last month and will make his professional debut on Friday, May 8, when the Atlas take on the Carolina Chaos at 8:30 p.m. at Zions Bank Stadium in Salt Lake City.
