SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Athletics today announced it has reached an agreement with JMI Sports to conclude its multimedia rights partnership, clearing the way for the department to proceed in the creation of Crimson Brand Partners.
Utah Athletics' relationship with JMI Sports began in 2024-25 after a competitive bid process where JMI Sports was selected as the athletic department's exclusive multimedia rights partner. Over the past two years, JMI Sports has driven the department's corporate partnership portfolio, generating sponsorship revenue and delivering brand activations that exceeded expectations. This includes:
- Significant upsells with existing Utah Athletics partners, generating incremental revenue.
- Sales execution of high-profile assets, including the field logo at Rice-Eccles Stadium to University of Utah Health and the court logo at the Huntsman Center to Minky Couture.
- Dedicated company leadership to deliver a customized Utah-centric solution supported by deep commitment and relationships.
"JMI Sports was a true partner to this department from day one," said
Mark Harlan, University of Utah Director of Athletics. "They took on our multimedia rights portfolio and grew it with new partners and upsells, record revenue growth and marquee asset sales. That kind of work does not happen without a real commitment to this program, and we are thankful for all their work. I also want to thank Erik Judson and his team for their collaboration and care of the Utah brand."
"JMI Sports has been proud to represent Utah Athletics, and we cherish the partnership we built with Mark and the entire team over the last two years," said Erik Judson, Co-Founder and CEO at JMI Sports. "JMI Sports fought hard to secure these rights in 2024, but we respect the decision by university leadership to forge this first-of-its-kind path in college athletics. Together, we reached a fair and mutually beneficial agreement to transition the remaining years on our contract, allowing the University to accelerate the launch of Crimson Brand Partners. I also appreciate the University's recognition of the contributions and positive impact we have made throughout our partnership as we transition off the property."
