COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The University of Utah fall sport teams placed 47 student-athletes on the Mountain West Conference all-academic team for fall of 2002. Leading the way was the Ute soccer team with 15 all-academic selections, followed by football with 11, volleyball and women's cross country with eight each and men's cross country with five.
Freshman soccer player Katie Battazzo was the only Ute to earn a perfect 4.00 GPA. Utes receiving a 3.90 GPA or better were sophomore cross country athlete Nellie Hammons (3.97), senior soccer player Maren Harper (3.97), senior soccer player Courtney McBeth (3.96) and sophomore football player Morgan Scalley (3.94).
