SALT LAKE CITY - Dr. Chris Hill, in his 17th year as director of athletics at the University of Utah, has been named to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. Hill's five-year appointment begins in September of 2004.
Hill has served on numerous committees in recent years. He was the NCAA appointed chairman of the Championships/Competition Cabinet from 1997-98. In 2002-03, he was elected to the executive committee of the National Association of Collegiate Athletics Directors (NACDA). The past four years, Hill has been the Mountain West Conference representative on the NCAA Management Council.
Before moving into athletics administration at Utah, Hill served two stints on the Ute men's basketball coaching staff. The New Jersey native first came to the U. as a graduate assistant basketball coach under Bill Foster in 1973-74. He was a full-time assistant under Jerry Pimm from 1979-81. Hill lettered in basketball three years at Rutgers and was co-captain of the 1971-72 team.
