The coaches and staff at the University of Utah Department of Athletics salutes Ute student-athletes on National Student-Athlete Day for the many accomplishments and contributions they've made outside the athletic arena.
Student athletes contribute their time and talent each day as representatives of the University of Utah Athletic Program. In addition to being members of championship teams, they also excel in the classroom, offer campus leadership, and contribute service to various agencies and individuals in the Salt Lake City area. April 18th is National Student-Athlete Day, and the University of Utah pays tribute to them for their many achievements outside of the sporting arena.
Utah student-athletes gave presentations to over 6,000 students this past year in the Salt Lake community. For the fall semester of 1999, 83 student-athletes made the Dean's List. One hundred seventy student-athletes had a GPA greater than 3.00 and 11 teams recorded a greater than 3.00 semester team GPA. One hundred eighty student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the spring and fall semesters of 1999. In 1998-99, 89 WAC Scholar Athletes had a minimum 3.20 GPA.
