Salt Lake City - The University of Utah spring sports teams enjoyed success in the classroom through many academic accomplishments in 2001. Utah had 74 student-athletes named to the spring-semester Mountain West Conference academic all-conference team. They are:
Baseball: Benson Barrera, David Ebright, Donald Hawes, Jon Lewis, Brett Lindsey, Thomas Maestas, Mitch Maio, Matt McAfee and Michael Westfall.
Men's Basketball: Lance Allred, Chris Burgess, Trace Caton and Michael Puzey.
Women's Basketball: Kristina Andersen, Lauren Beckman, Lori Red-Castagnetto, Amy Ewert, Lindsay Herbert, Caroline Matthews and Kelsy Stireman.
Golf: Shawn Edwards, Lucas Swilor and Paul Winterowd.
Softball: Heather Bowlin, Becky Culligan, Niki Hayhurst, Amberly Jeppson, Angie Kenney, Carrie Kosderka, Molly McLean, Masie Ota, Melissa Stahnke and Christa Pfeninger.
Men's Swimming and Diving: Brandon Durrant, Daniel Godfrey, Paul Hellinga, Magnus Lofgren, Trenton Shino and James Thompson.
Women's Swimming and Diving: Melissa Chamberlin, Rebecca Gerber, Kimberly Lewis, Jill Lish-Comins, Amber Nye and Jamie Wayman.
Men's Tennis: Tyler Poulson, Corrie Scheepers and Nicolas Yip.
Women's Tennis: Sheri Esrock, Frida Kareld, Cassie Kasteler, Linn Ronnberg, Heidi Thomas and Brooke Wilkinson.
Men's Track and Field: Bradley Christenson, Kevin Frazier, Teren Jameson, Chris Laman and Erik Vernon.
