SALT LAKE CITY--The Mountain West Conference released its list of scholar athletes for the 2002-03 academic year today. Among those named were 69 University of Utah student-athletes.
The Scholar-Athlete Award is the most prestigious academic award given by the Mountain West Conference. The award is presented to student-athletes who have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying institution, have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have competed in at least one varsity contest.
"We're very proud of these student-athletes for representing the athletics department on and off the field in such a successful manner," said Director of Athletics Academic Services Chris Reilly. "They have shown a great commitment to academics."
