SALT LAKE CITY -
In a joint decision reached by the Mountain West Conference and its member schools, no home MWC games will be played this week. Utah, which was scheduled to play at Air Force on Saturday, will now meet the Falcons on December 1 in Colorado Springs. The other MWC home games that have been postponed and will be rescheduled are Colorado State at UNLV and New Mexico State at New Mexico.
Some University of Utah teams will play this weekend, although not all games will be as originally scheduled.
The Utah soccer game with Marquette will not be played on Thursday. It will either be canceled or moved to Monday. The second scenario is up to Marquette, which had not been contacted regarding that possibility at the time of this release. Sunday's soccer game with Montana is still on. It will start at 1:00 p.m. on Ute Field.
No Ute athletic teams will participate on Friday, in observance of the national day of mourning.
The Utah volleyball team will play at home this weekend, but not in the Utah-Illinois Classic, as scheduled. The tournament field was to include Utah, Illinois and Illinois State, and was to be played Friday and Saturday on Crimson Court. Instead, Utah plans to extend an invitation to Illinois to come out and play a single match on Saturday. Should the Illini decline, the Utes will host Weber State on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., in place of their scheduled match on October 16.
The Ute men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the Montana State Invitational on Saturday in Bozeman. The Air Force golf tournament, whose field included Utah, has been cancelled. It was scheduled for Friday-Sunday in Colorado Springs.
