Upcoming Event: Soccer versus Utah Tech on September 11, 2025 at 7 p.m.

The Utah basketball program enjoys one of the best support systems in the country in its new home --- the Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Facility.
The building was complete in the fall of 2015 and ready for the Utes to use in the 2015-16 season.
Construction on the 101,000-square foot, four-story Jon M. & Karen Huntsman Basketball Facility began on May 5, 2014. The Ute men's and women's basketball teams moved in earlier this week.
The glass-enclosed upper levels and rooftop terrace offer spectacular views of the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountain ranges, the University of Utah campus, downtown Salt Lake City and the Great Salt Lake.
The ground floor entrances to the facility open into the Kem and Carolyn Gardner Legacy Hall. Banners bearing images of the former Ute basketball greats whose numbers have been retired hang from the 38-foot high ceiling. A historical pictorial of the men's and women's basketball programs line the walls alongside a massive 30-foot raised circle and feather logo. The 6,000-square foot hall is bathed in natural light from clearstory windows.
Legacy Hall accesses viewing balconies overlooking the men's and women's practice gymnasiums. Both gyms are configured to maximize the practice setting. The courts are identical and the main floor is an exact replica of that in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The configuration of the basketball goals is ideal for practice because it allows the coaches to run five simultaneous drills without impacting one another.
The gymnasiums also contain a video editing area, courtside taping tables and cardio equipment. A glass-enclosed yoga room overlooks the women's practice courts and will be shared not only by both basketball teams, but all of Utah's intercollegiate athletic teams and staff.
Other features of level 1 include a shared space for the men's and women's basketball teams for pre-game meals and donor functions, as well as separate theaters complete with projection screens and whiteboard walls, and player lounges with six 55-inch televisions, custom-built furniture and gaming consoles. The locker rooms, which are 700-square feet in size, are also found on level 1. In addition to custom lockers, showers and restrooms, they boast in-ground hot and cold tubs that face 80-inch television screens.
A series of existing tunnels connects level 1 to the HPER facilities, Sorenson High Performance Center and Burbidge Family Athletics-Academic Center--which serve all of Utah's student-athletes--as well as the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
"I truly feel that the Huntsman Basketball Facility is one of the nicest facilities on the planet," said head men's basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak. "I have been around a lot of the facilities in the country at both the NCAA and NBA levels and this is the nicest. I say that not only because it is ours, but because the unrivaled amenities inside are complimented by the spectacular views in every direction."
Added women's basketball coach Lynne Roberts, "From a standpoint of taking care of student-athletes and showing them how important men's and women's basketball is at Utah, there's no better statement than this facility. It is truly unbelievable and is going to be a huge asset for us in recruiting. We've been able to walk recruits through it already and they are picking their chin off of the ground the entire time. It's the definition of a `wow' factor."
The women's and men's basketball offices, recruiting lounges, conference rooms and coaches' lounges are located on levels 3 and 4, respectively. All assistant coaches have window offices and private balconies. Across the hall are offices for administrative and video staff, as well as meeting space.
The spacious 935-square foot L-shaped offices of head coaches Krystkowiak and Roberts are encased in floor-to-ceiling glass, and including their private balconies, stretch the length of the facility's west side. The head coaches' offices have fireplaces, 60-inch televisions that retract into the ceiling when not in use, and surround sound. Their offices also have a private bathroom.
Above Krystkowiak's fourth-story office is a rooftop terrace bordered by a garden with low-water and drought-resistant plants, surrounded by a 360-degree panoramic view of the Salt Lake Valley and nearby mountain ranges. Also featured on the rooftop terrace, which will available for use all by Utah varsity athletic teams and athletics department functions, is a fire pit, gas grill and Utah-themed patio furniture.
The Huntsman Basketball Facility is the newest member of a vast Utah athletics complex in upper campus. Other nearby athletic facilities include the Jon M. Huntsman Center, Ute Natatorium, Ute Soccer Field, Dumke Gymnastics Center, McCarthey Family Track & Field and Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
The Jon M. & Karen Huntsman Basketball Facility was built in conjunction with the state-of-the art Sorenson High Performance Center, which opened in late May. The 20,000-square foot Sorenson High Performance Center has conditioning and strength training space, an athletic training, rehabilitation and hydrotherapy area and a refueling/nutrition station.
