2024 SUMMER OLYMPICS CENTRAL PAGE
A total of six current or former University of Utah student-athletes will compete in the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad this summer across multiple cities in France. Women's basketball will be represented by Michelle Plouffe (2010-14), Paige Crozon (2012-16) and Kim (Smith) Gacuher (2002-06) are set to be the first to compete at the Olympics for Utah with pool play beginning on Tuesday, July 30. The trio will represent Team Canada in 3x3 basketball with Gaucher serving as head coach. Utah's cross country and track & field program will have Simone Plourde (2021-23) and Josefine Eriksen (2021-24) represent Team Canada and Team Norway, respectively, with both making their Olympic debut. Plourde is set to compete in the 1500m run while Eriksen competes in the 4x400m relay. Last, but not least, for the Utes is Emilia Nilsson Garip - who just wrapped up arguably one of the best freshmen seasons ever for the Utah swim & dive program. Nilsson Garip will represent her home country of Sweden in the 3m springboard.
