Carter Stevens begins his first season with the Runnin’ Utes basketball program after joining Craig Smith’s staff in August of 2024 as the Director of Scouting/Video.
He comes to Salt Lake City having served as an assistant coach with Ángeles CD México in Ciudad México, México, since May of 2024. A playoff contender in the CIBACOPA, Stevens provided advanced scouting and statistical analysis of all opponents while also providing tactical recommendations based on incoming data. Stevens also had on-court responsibilities that included implementation of scouting reports, communication breakdown drills and player development.
Before joining Ángeles CD México, Stevens spent two seasons at Northern Iowa as a graduate assistant from 2022-24. While in Cedar Falls, Iowa, he worked hand-in-hand with the coaching staff preparing advanced scouting reports and analysis. In addition, Stevens also organized and led player development workouts with multiple all-conference and NBA players.
The Iowa native started his collegiate career playing at Des Moines Area Community College (2018-19) and transferred to Dubuque (2019-21) for a couple seasons before graduating in 2022. While with the Spartans, he averaged 6.4 points and 12.9 minutes while shooting .406 from the field. He also helped Dubuque capture the American Rivers Conference Championship his sophomore year with an undefeated regular-season during the shortened COVID-19 year going 14-0 and 7-0 in league play.
Stevens earned his bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management at the University of Dubuque in June of 2022 before obtaining his master’s in community health and recreation at the University of Northern Iowa in May of 2024.
