Nick began working in the Office of Sport Psychology and Wellness providing counseling and mental performance services in 2021, and in 2024 joined the staff full time as Coordinator of Mental Performance. Prior to this, he spent 15 years as a professor teaching classes, mentoring students, and conducting research on the psychology of sport. Nick has worked as a mental performance coach for athletes and teams from the youth to the Olympic level, most notably the U.S. Speedskating National Training Program. He earned his Ph.D. in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in the Psychosocial Aspects of Sport from The University of Utah in 2009, and later returned to the U for an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Nick enjoys playing board games with his family, reading, and keeping up with his favorite teams and players from the NBA and MLB.
