Spring Football: Rainy Day Doesn't Stop The Utes

SALT LAKE CITY – It was a cold and rainy day at the Eccles Football Center but that didn't stop the Utah football team from lighting up the field for its 10thpractice of spring ball. The Utes will wrap up spring practices next week with the annual Red White Game on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. MT in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

This week, the Utes will have two more practices before breaking for the weekend.

Week 4 Schedule
TH, Apr. 4        Practice            3:00-4:45 p.m.   Eccles Football Center Fields
FR, Apr. 5        Scrimmage       4:00-6:00 p.m.   Rice-Eccles Stadium

One of the highlights from spring practice has been the return of Utah's four superstar juniors in Bradlee Anae, Zack Moss, Julian Blackmon and Leki Fotu, who decided to return to school instead of declare for the NFL draft.

Bradlee Anae on how camp has gone so far…
"Camp has been good and everyone is looking solid. Offense looks good and the defense is running to the ball, so everything looks pretty tight as of now."

On making the decision to come back and what is different now than it might have been before…
"I don't think much has changed to be honest. It is just right when I made that decision to come back, it was just picking up right where I left off. It wasn't not too long after the season that I decided so I was able to get right back into it with winter conditioning."

Highlights From Today's Offense vs. Defense
The Utes are fresh off their first scrimmage of the spring season, taking on 80 plays on Saturday in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

After practice today, new linebackers coach Colton Swan talked to the media

On the new faces on the linebacker group and losing starters Chase Hansen and Cody Barton
"You look around the room and there are not a lot of starters sitting in the room right now, so it is open game. It is a competition every day they take the field. The guys are working hard for it, so even though there is not a lot of experience, the guys are stepping up and making plays and progress. And that is what we like to see."
