Abi Holt is in her ninth season as head Nordic coach for the Utah ski team. During her tenure, Holt has led the Nordic team to be consistently among the best in the country. She helped coach the Utes to the 2017 NCAA Championship and her skiers have brought home seven individual national titles and earned 17 podium finishes at NCAA's.
Holt has coached 16 athletes to 45 All-America honors during her time at Utah. Martin Bergström swept both Nordic NCAA titles in 2017 (10-km classical, 20-km freestyle). Veronika Mayerhofer won the 2015 NCAA title in the 5-km freestyle. Miles Havlick was a two-time NCAA champion in the 2012 20-km classical and 2013 20-km freestyle. Maria Graefnings won NCAA titles in the 5-km freestyle in 2011 and 2012.
Holt has helped coach Utah to six top-three team finishes at the NCAA Championships.
Holt was the 2017 United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association National Nordic Coach of the Year. She was the 2017 and 2011 RMISA Nordic Coach of the Year.
Holt is in her fifth season as the RMISA Nordic representative to the National Collegiate Ski Association. She is in her fourth year as the chairperson of the National Nordic Coaches group to the United States Ski Association (USSA).
Holt previously coached at the Hollyburn Ski Club in Vancouver, B.C. She coached Hollyburn’s first four athletes to qualify for the national championships and the first three athletes to be named to the B.C. Provincial Development Squad.
Prior to Hollyburn, Holt spent five years as the Assistant Nordic Program Director and Ski Coach at the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation.
Holt has coached six U.S. National Junior Champions and two national champions. She coached four winters in Europe at the J1 Scandinavian Championships, Scando Cup, Europa Cup and World Junior Championships. Holt has also spent summers training athletes in Sweden, Norway, and New Zealand.
Holt, who hails from Sun Valley, Idaho, was a three-time national junior champion and a 17-time Junior All-American for the Sun Valley Nordic ski team. She was on the U.S. National Junior Development ski team for five years and spent four years racing at Dartmouth, earning All-America honors for the Big Green in addition to being a two-time team captain.
