Salt Lake City - Utah won its 20th match of the season tonight over Mountain West Conference opponent Wyoming in three games, (15-11, 15-10, 15-5) at Crimson Court. It was the Utes? last match of regular-season play. This is Utah?s fourth consecutive 20-win season. Utah moves to 20-8 overall, 10-4 in the MWC. Wyoming improves to 9-20 overall, 3-11 in conference play.
Middle blocker McKelle Stilson led the Utes with 12 kills for a .300 hitting percentage. Jen Snow-Richards hit an efficient .563 and posted 11 kills. Freshman Brenda Beal totaled 10 kills for a .563 hitting percentage. Brooke Barton led the Utes with nine digs. Senior setter Graciela Torres-Lopez totaled 46 assists. As a team, the Utes hit .340 in the match.
?I think we played really well and we accomplished everything we set out to this weekend. It would have been nice if we beat Colorado State but we played tough and took care of business here tonight. I?m excited to get into the Mountain West Conference play,? said Launiere.
Wyoming was led by Melody Friehauf who posted 12 kills for a .269 hitting percentage. Teammate Molly Scavuzzo led the Cowgirls with 10 digs. Brooke Lowry posted 27 assists. Wyoming hit .116 in the match.
