SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah men's swimming and diving team finished fourth with 448.50 points at the 1999 Western Athletic Conference Championships. SMU won the contest with 657.50 points followed by Brigham Young (573) and Hawai'i (537). The Utah 400 free relay was second swimming an NCAA B standard qualifying time. Distance freestyler Robert Renna swam to a second-place finish in the 1650 free, Johan Nystrom was third in the 100 free and Troy Johnson was fourth in the 100 free. All three men swam NCAA B qualifying times. The team awaits the association's ruling to determine NCAA Championship appointments. In the 200 back, Mike Greene was fourth and Rich Hall finished eighth. In the 200 fly, Jon Wright was fifth and Matt Chamberlain was seventh. Travis Harmor finished seventh in the 1650 free, Dan Schultz was eighteenth and Brandon Heidelberger was 23rd in the event. In the 200 breast, Daniel Godfrey placed 18th and Bjoern Olstad was 19th.
