ATLANTA – Senior

Petersen logged a 352.90 in prelims, the sixth best mark in the field, to qualify for the evening session. He finished seventh overall at 354.80 in finals to earn all-America recognition on the 1-meter for the second season in a row.
Petersen won on 1-meter at the Big 12 Championships and second on the event at the NCAA Zone E Championships.
In the pool,
Nick Chirafisi and
Evan VanBrocklin were both in action during Thursday's prelims. Chirafisi clocked a 1:34.35 in the 200 Free, placing 44th, and VanBrocklin touched the wall in 46.40 in the 100 Fly to finish 39th.
"It was a great morning of swims for these guys," head coach
Jonas Persson said.
Chirafisi also competed in the 1650 Free on Wednesday night, clocking a personal-best 14:51.53 to finish 20th in the nation.
"Nick was phenomenal yesterday," Persson added. "He swam a personal best and moved up a few spots, that's all you can ask for at this meet and he'll be in a position to score next year. He's got arguably his best event tomorrow, which is exciting, and Evan is gearing up for his on Saturday."
Looking Ahead
Petersen will compete on 3-meter and Chirafisi will race in in the 500 Free on Friday. VanBrocklin will swim the 200 Fly and 200 IM on Saturday. Prelims start at 8 a.m. MT on both days.
