Palo Alto,Calif. - Three Utah track athletes made their way into the record books over the weekend when they competed in the Stanford Outdoor Track and Field Invitational, the largest outdoor track meet in the western United States. Senior Dane Miller and juniors Travis Hildebrand and Chris Merkley all posted personal bests in the 5,000 meter event as they prepare for the official start of Utah's outdoor track and field season beginning April 9th.
Competing in a field of 106 runners, Merkley finished 21st overall with a time of 14:20.82, moving him into second place on Utah's all-time best performance list. Hildebrand came in 22nd posting a time of 14:21.98, moving him into third place on the all-time list and Miller followed placing 42nd with a time of 14:45.81, earning him the sixth spot. All three runners qualified to compete at the Mt. SAC Invitational in Walnut, Calif., April 16-17.
