
Hussey Captures Heptathlon Title at FISU America Games in Lima

Utah track and field’s Glo Hussey captured gold at the FISU America Games for Team USA.
LIMA, Peru – Utah track & field's Glo Hussey captured gold at the FISU America Games over the summer for Team USA, posting a winning heptathlon score of 5314 points in Lima, Peru.
She set the tone on day one, running a PR time of 13.98 in the 100m hurdles to take second before posting a mark of 1.67m (5-5.75) in the high jump to capture that event. Her run of 13.98 also saw her move into a tie for fifth all-time in the 100m hurdles event at Utah. The Kodiak, Alaska, native finished the first day of action in the lead and never relinquished it the rest of the meet.
The second day of competition saw Hussey capture a win in the 200m dash with a PR run of 24.92 while taking third in the shotput with yet another personal best – this time with a toss of 10.60m (34-9.5).
At the end of the third day, Hussey had compiled 4507 points thanks to a victory in the long jump and second place finish in the javelin. The rising senior won the long jump with a leap of 5.65m (18-6.5) while her toss of 33.19m (108-10) in the javelin was a good for a new PR.
A second-place finish in the 800m run solidified her victory in the heptathlon on the final day of action thanks to a PR run of 2:21.25 and push her total to 5314 points – which moved her up to No. 3 on the all-time list at Utah.
The United States finished with 205 total medals to lead all nations competing in the meet and also led with 96 gold medals – including the one from Hussey in the heptathlon. Hussey was joined by Notre Dame's Huber Lauren on the podium to give Team USA a 1-2 finish while Celia Kulis from Holy Cross finished in fourth.
