FROM THE START
This will serve as the fifth-consecutive season the Women of Utah have sent multiple individuals to the NCAA Championships. Meanwhile, Utah has now sent had at least one individual to compete at the championships in 8-of-9 seasons, not counting 2020 due to COVID-19, dating back to 2017.
Â
Chelsea Amoah, a West Jordan native, will be Utah's first sprinter in the 200m event at the championships while
Mackenzie Rogers will be the second Ute ever to compete in the 3000m steeplechase. The last Woman of Utah to compete in that event was two-time All-American (2017-18) Grayson Murphy.
Â
HOW THEY GOT THERE
Chelsea Amoah advanced to the 200m quarterfinals thanks to a third-place finish in her section of the race in the first round with a mark of 23.04 to advance to the finals. The sophomore saw herself move onto Eugene when she placed third once again in her section to earn an automatic qualifying spot in the quarterfinals with a run of 22.85.
Â
Mackenzie Rogers had a great run in the 3000m steeplechase at NCAA West First Rounds. The Poway, Calif., product hung with the lead pack the whole way through in her section of the race and finished fourth with a run of 10:08.03 – which was good go earn a time qualifying spot at NCAA Championships.
