LINCOLN, Nebraska - Only six University of Utah track and field athletes traveled to Nebraska this weekend to participate in the Frank Sevign/Husker Invite, one of the most prestigious indoor competitions in the U.S. Athletes from 45 schools across the nation had to reach a certain performance standard to be invited to this meet. Utah's six athletes had an impressive showing among some of the nations elite.
Senior Stacey Rhineer placed third (41'04.50") overall in the women's triple jump and 11th (5'05.75")in the high jump. Senior Katherina Fatafehi finished 19th (51'10.50") in the 20lb. weight throw with sophomore Chantel Goldsberry placing 23rd (51'04.50"). For the men, junior Travis Hildebrand placed sixth (14:46.03), Chris Merkley placed 13th (15:04.74) and senior Dane Miller finished 15th (15:05.91) in the 5,000 meters.
Utah's next meet is Feb. 12-13 in Pocatello, Idaho at the Mountain States Games.
