Albuquerque, NM - The 10th seeded University of Utah women's tennis team ran into a tough opponent, No. 7 seed (66 nationally) Tulsa in round one of the Western Athletic Conference tournament, falling 5-1. Utah will play Wyoming, a 6-0 loser to host New Mexico, at 9 a.m. tomorrow. Freshman Linn Ronnberg scored the only Ute win at No. 3 singles over Monica Poveda, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4. Junior Megan Payne, the No. 76 ranked player, had a tough individual match herself as No. 10 Anousjka Van Exel downed the Ute, 6-2, 7-5. The lone Ute senior, Molly Sanderson and sophomore Heidi Thomas pushed their matches into the third and decisive set at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively, but the Golden Hurricane counterparts proved to tough.
