AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Kris Clack scored 18 points to lead Texas to a 73-68 victory over No. 25 Utah on Saturday night.
Hanno Mottola, who finished with 28 points, gave the Utes (5-4) their last lead, 57-56, on a layup with 6:44 to play. Chris Mihm of Texas (2-5) tied the game with a free throw 28 seconds later and the Longhorns took the lead for good on a dunk by Clack with 5:27 to play.
The Utes got within 63-61 with 1:36 remaining on a layup by Mottola, but the Longhorns scored the next four points on a free throw by DeJuan Vezquez and a 3-pointer by Gabe Muoneke with 45 seconds remaining.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for Utah and matched the Utes' loss total from last season when they went 30-4 and lost to Kentucky in the national championship game.
Utah, which trailed 35-31 at halftime, took a 49-42 lead only to see the Longhorns go a 7-0 run to tie the game.
Mihm had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots for Texas, which was outrebounded 36-27, while Muoneke had 14 points and William Clay 12.
Andre Miller had 12 points for Utah, while Alex Jensen and Jeremy Killion each had 11. Mottola finished with eight rebounds.
