SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah swimming team has signed two first team All-Americans. Renee Dyer and Cody Rempfer will join the Utes for the 2001-02 season.
Dyer, a six-time Junior National Team qualifier, is also a 2000 first team All-American in the 200 free, with an honorable mention in the 100 breast. She presently holds seven varsity high school records and was named the school's MVP in 1998 and `99. Dyer has been a member of the California Scholastic Federation during all four years of high school.
"Renee's versatility as a breatstroker and a freestyler, will bring a great look to Utah women's swimming. Her best swimming and academic accomplishments are definitely ahead of her," states Ute head coach Mike Litzinger.
Dyer is the daughter of Dan and Ellen Dyer. She is a senior at Rocklin High School in Rocklin Calif. She swims in club competition for the Sierra Marlins Swim team under the direction of Jeff Pearson.
Rempfer is a specialist in the 100 fly, 200 fly and 400 IM. This four-year varsity letterwinner, is a 2000 first team All-American in the 100 fly and 200 free relay events. He currently holds three high school records in the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 free relay along with 14 Lodi City Swim Club team records. Rempfer has been the section champion in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free relay since 1999.
"We are extremely excited about bringing Cody to Utah," says Mike Litzinger. "His tremendous work ethic and team attitude will be a great addition to the building of our men's program."
Rempfer is the son of Earl and Colleen Rempfer. He is a senior at Lodi High School in Lodi, Calif. He currently swims for Tiger Aquatics under the direction of Ray Looze.
