SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team is 13-18 with a 4-6 Mountain West Conference mark following a 3-0 loss to New Mexico today. The Lobos bested the Utes scoring three runs on nine hits with two errors. Utah was unable to score runs on four hits with two errors. The win brings New Mexico to a 20-12 record with an 8-1 league mark.
Centerfielder Sam Swenson carried the Utes with two hits including his 13th double of the year. Jared Cavaness opened the game for Utah pitching 4.1 innings. Facing 23 batters, Cavaness allowed six hits and one earned run.
The Utes and the Lobos continue the three-game series with a single game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at Franklin Covey Field.
