SALT LAKE CITY - The 2000 All-Academic Ski Team was announced on March 3, 2000. The qualifications for the award included participation at the regional championships, an individual GPA of 3.5 or above and consideration for Force Majure.
Dartmouth, St. Lawrence and Bates all had nine skiers qualify for the award, which was the most in the eastern region. Colby and Vermont followed with seven and then Harvard with six. Five Middlebury and New Hampshire athletes were awarded, followed by Williams and St. Michael's who had two each.
In the western region, Denver had 16 skiers named academic all-American, as nine female and seven male skiers qualified. New Mexico had 12, followed by Alaska-Anchorage with nine. Colorado qualified seven, Utah earned six, Montana State had five, Western State four and Whitman had three.
In the three-school central region, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Northern Michigan each had two skiers named, and St. Olaf had one.
The University of Utah Academic All-Americans were Jernej Bukovec (Pre-Business), Petter Svendsen (Economics), Marika Engstrom (Nursing), Sabrina Lawrence (Mass Communication), Lene Pedersen (Therapeutic Recreation) and Petra Svet (Undecided).
