LAS VEGAS (AP) - Erin Gibbons scored a team-high 14 points to help Utah ground Air Force 65-29 in the first round of the Mountain West Conference's women's basketball tournament.
The top-seeded Utes (21-7, 12-3) outscored the eighth-seeded Falcons (4-24, 1-14) 40-12 in the second half en route to the romp.
Air Force made just 4 of 23 shots in the second half, and 11 of 43 overall (25.6%). Mollie Peters led Air Force scorers with 14 points.
Twelve different players scored for Utah, which downed half of their 46 shots from the field, including 8 of 18 three-point attempts.
The Utes will take on UNLV Friday in the conference semifinals.
