LAS VEGAS - The University of Utah women's tennis (7-10) team heads into post-season play as the No. 5 seed at the Mountain West Conference Tournament, April 27-29 at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.
Utah plays tournament host Nevada-Las Vegas in the opening round Thursday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. UNLV is the fourth seed and carries a No. 72 national ranking. Megan Payne-Dorny leads the Utes into the tournament with a 20-10 regular season record. She has been playing her best tennis of late, beating three top-85 girls, including the No. 11 player the past two weeks. The Rebels hope to counteract the Utes' Payne-Dorny at No. 1 singles with No. 27 Katarina Malec. Malec recently beat the nation's defending champion.
