LAS VEGAS - The Utah baseball team falls out of the Mountain West Conference Tournament after a devastating 10-5 loss to Air Force today. The Utes made it through the third round of competition before succumbing to their second championship defeat. Utah scored five runs on 11 hits but were unable to capitalize on five Falcon errors. Air Force consequently scored 10 runs on 13 hits going through six Utah pitchers in the game. The Utes finish the 2000 season with a 26-30 record and tied for third in the Mountain West Conference.
Second baseman Adam Castleton led the game for Utah going 3-for-4 including two doubles and a pair of runs. Rightfielder Jed Chrisman was 2-for-4 scoring on run and two RBI scoring a solo homer in the game.
Brandon Page started for Utah on the mound pitching the first inning. He gave up two hits, four runs and three base on balls to earn the loss.
With this final game of the season, Utah says goodbye to its three graduating seniors, Page, pitcher Jared Cavaness, infielder Jake Shortino and outfielder Jamie Hardy.
