SALT LAKE CITY- The Utah men's and women's swimming teams faced rival Brigham Young at the Ute Natatorium this evening. The Cougars dominated the event, resulting in a disappointing loss for the Utes. Final scores for the men were 150-66, and the for the women were 139-102.
Sophomore David Fleisch won the 400 IM (4:08.81), which was the only individual victory for the Utes. Fleisch also took second-place in the 100 fly (53.74). Brandon Durrant captured second-place in the 100 free (49.11).
Heidi Hausknecht and Kristen Kaiser led the women, both with two individual victories. Hausknecht won the 50 free (24.23) and the 100 fly (56.78). Kaiser took the 500 free (5:12.90) and 1650 free (17:36.75). Sarah Norton won the 100 free (53.15).
Utah divers had a great performance. Jill Comins won the 3-meter event with a score of 292.42, which resulted in a qualification to the NCAA Zone competition. Sterling Richards won second-place in the 1-meter with a score of 301.05 which also qualified him for the NCAA Zone meet.
