PUEBLO, COLO. - The University of Utah baseball team (19-20, 8-10 MWC) lost the final game of a three-game series to Air Force (20-22, 6-12 MWC), 10-7, at Rawlings Field in Pueblo, Colo.
Air Force scored seven runs in the first two innings, and held on for the Mountain West Conference win.
Falcon starter Michael Tufte used the early cushion to produce the win in six innings of work, giving up four runs.
Utah scored two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh inning to close the gap. Brit Pannier singled and scored on a Donald Hawes double in the sixth. In the seventh, Nate Weese led off with a double and was chased home on an RBI single by Chris Shelton. Sam Swenson singled to put runners on the corners. Shelton and Swenson both scored on wild pitches, but the Falcons killed the rally after that.
