LARAMIE, Wyo. - The No. 16 University of Utah women's volleyball team dropped to 14-5 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West Conference tonight when they fell at the University of Wyoming in three games (19-30, 28-30, 23-30). Utah hit for just .121 on the match compared to the .280 of the Cowgirls. The Utes were also out-blocked 12-6.
"Wyoming played a great match - they were hungry for the win," Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "For whatever reason, it's been a pattern for us to come in without the edge this season. And when you face good teams, you can't expect to win. Unless we change that, we won't win on the road and we'll fall short of our goals."
Captains Sylva Strzinkova and Kim Turner led Utah with 16 and 14 kills, respectively. Junior libero was tops with 10 digs and sophomore setter Kelsie Kartchner finished with 42 assists.
UP NEXT: The Utes face Colorado State for a 7:00 p.m. match tomorrow night.
