THIS WEEK: The University of Utah women's tennis team continues its fall season at the Omni Hotels Central Region Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament, hosted by University of Tulsa, begins on Wednesday, Oct. 23 and will last through Sunday, Oct. 27. In addition to Utah and Tulsa, Air Force, Boise State, BYU, Colorado State, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah Sate will also be featured in the tournament.
UTES TO WATCH: Juniors Cassie Kasteler and Sheri Esrock earned main draw entries while freshman Joanna Zyndzo, sophomore Allison Hansen and Freshman Rachel Alder earned qualifying entries.
Kasteler will be partnered with Zyndzo this week, while Esrock will be paired with Alder. "This will provide experience and direction in doubles," states head Megan Dorny.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MEGAN DORNY: "We're thrilled to be taking six players back to the Regional Championships," states Dorny. "We expect good results from Allison Hansen and freshman Maria Svensson. Hansen has been playing great tennis as of late, while Svensson is coming off a minor injury and ready to play some aggressive tennis."
COMING UP: The Utes will open their regular season by hosting Montana State on Jan. 24. at the Eccles Tennis Center.
