SALT LAKE CITY- The University of Utah men's and women's swimming and diving team is off to its best start in recent history. The team has come across success this year not only in its record but there are several swimmers on the team who have posted some of the nation's top times according to collegeswimming.com.
On the men's side, Cody Rempfer stands 14th in the country with his time in the 200 fly (1:49.63) and 29th in the 200 IM (1:53.20). Rempfer also holds the 44th spot in the 100 fly with his time of 50.77. Jonathan Larsen has the 7th best time in the 100 free with his time of 44.89. He also has the 15th best time in the 50 free with his 20.66. Evan Castro holds 34th in the 200 breast (2:04.98). Castro is also in 36th with his 57.70 in the 100 breast. Matan Ratz holds the 52nd spot with his 1:41.33 in the 200 free. David Fleisch swam a time good for 61st in the 100 back (52.04). The Utes 400 medley relay team has the 9th best time in the nation at 3:21.40. The Utah 200 medley relay team is in 22nd with its time of 1:33.83, while the 200 free relay team holds a time of 1:27.10, good for 38th best. The 400 free relay team is in 34th with a time of 3:08.59.
For the women, Neringa Statkeviciute is in 18th in the 100 free (51.19). Statkeviciute also is in 41st in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.42. Tessa Greegor is in 63rd in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.04. Loren Sweeny is in 64th in the 1000 free with a time of 10:15.08. In the 200 breast Ariane Kich is 66th with a time of 2:21.98. Kristen Kaiser is in 75th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.56. The women's 400 free relay team is in 38th with a time of 3:32.41.
Utah does not swim this week, but will resume in Las Vegas, Nev., against UNLV on Dec. 7, at 2:00 p.m.
