THIS WEEK: Four members of the University of Utah swimming team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to compete in the Phillip 66 U.S. National Championships. The meet will be held Mar. 19-23.
Evan Castro and Tessa Greegor will compete in the 100 breast. Cody Rempfer will compete in the 200 fly and the 200 IM. Neringa Statkeviciute will compete in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.
MAKING A SPLASH: Head Coach Mike Litzinger was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Coach of the Year in his second season as the head coach of the Utes. This marks the fifth time Litzinger has received such an honor. He received coach of the year honors in the Eastern Intercollegiate Conference in 1992 and '94 and also in the Atlantic-10 in 1996 and '97. Already during Litzinger's two year tenure 13 out of 19 swimming records have been broken.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MIKE LITZINGER: "This is a tremendous meet for our swimmers to attend. It is of invaluable experience, and certainly the next step in terms of putting Utah on the map nationally."
