OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- The University of Utah swimming and diving team wrapped up the Mountain West Conference Championships on Saturday. The Ute women finished in fourth place with a team score of 496. The men finished fifth as they scored a total of 415. Brigham Young captured its fourth straight title as both the men and women won with scores of 908 and 662 respectively.
On the final day of competition Loren Sweny finished third in the 200 back (2:03.03). Neringa Statkeviciute finished second in the 100 free with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 50.26
For the men Jonathan Larsen swam the 100 free in a time of 44.68, finishing fourth and his time was also an NCAA provisional qualifier. The men's 400 free relay team finished third with a time of 3:02.03
Fifteen new Mountain West Conference records and 16 MWC championship records were established at this year's meet. Utah's Kristen Kaiser set a new 400-yard individual medley record with her time of 4:21.22.
