COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah center Andrew Bogut has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, marking his third career award.
A 7-0 sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, Bogut paced the Utes to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Coppin State (66-37) and Cal Poly (92-76). He scored a career-high 28 points, hitting 12-of-19 field goals, and added 14 rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the win over Coppin State last Monday. Bogut tallied 23 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the win over Cal Poly last Wednesday.
For the week, Bogut averaged 25.5 points, 13 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals, while shooting 60 percent (21-of-35) from the field. With double-doubles in his last four games, Bogut now leads the nation with eight double-doubles in 11 games this season.
