SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah's Andrew Bogut scored 22 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as the Utes defeated the Weber State Wildcats 51-40 Tuesday.
The victory makes four in a row for Utah (9-3). The loss was Weber State's third straight. The Wildcats (4-7), who begin conference play on Jan. 1 at Portland State, have now lost six of their last seven games.
Both teams struggled to score in the first half and Utah only held a 19-14 lead at the half. The Utes only shot 9-of-22 for 40 percent and Weber State went 5-of-27 for 18 percent.
The score stayed relatively close until the late in the second half when Utah opened a double-digit lead. Despite several scoring droughts throughout the game, Weber State came back to cut the deficit to under 10 points, but the game was nearly over.
In addition to Bogut, Bryant Markson scored 12 points. Lance Allred was the leading scorer for Weber State with 20 points and seven rebounds.
