SAN DIEGO (AP) - Tim Frost scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half and Nick Jacobson added 16 as Utah beat San Diego State 66-53 on Saturday.
Utah finished 9-5 in Mountain West play to place third in the conference.
San Diego State (14-15, 5-9) will meet Utah again Thursday at 1:05 p.m. (MST) in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament in Denver.
Utah built an 18-point lead with 7:27 left to play, but Aerick Sanders led a late 10-1 run as the Aztecs chopped the lead to nine at 59-50 with 4:42 left. Sanders finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
A rebound basket by Frost after a missed free throw by Robinson put the Utes back up by double figures, and the held a comfortable lead in the remaining minutes.
Sanders, the Aztecs' leading scorer and rebounder, went to the bench with three fouls with 4:24 left in the first half and Utah leading 22-21. Utah took advantage, going on a 11-2 run to end the first half up 33-23.
Chris Walton scored 10 points for the Aztecs, who were outscored from the free throw line 17-3.
