SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team was blanked 7-0 by No. 33 ranked conference opponent New Mexico on Saturday, April 10 at the Eccles Tennis Center.
The Utes got off to a bad start by picking up losses at all three doubles positions. In the singles, Utah was dominated by New Mexico who defeated them in straight set all the way down the lineup. Senior Sheri Esrock played at the No. 1 and freshman Cinthia Saucedo played at the No 2. Senior Rachel Alder moved up to the No. 3 position with freshman Jessica Watts at the No. 4. Sophomore Jenessa Jackson competed at the No. 5. Freshman Whitney Eber, who plays at the No. 2, retired after the doubles match and junior Shannon Bullard stepped in for the Utes at the No. 6.
Next week, Utah travels to Laramie, Wyo. and Fort Collins, Colo. for more Mountain West Conference action.
