SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah head coach Michael Litzinger has been appointed Director for the 2005 Regional Select Camp by USA Swimming. The camp will take place May 20-22 at the Ute Natatorium.
Jon Urbanchek, former coach at the University of Michigan and three-time USA Olympic Coach will be the head coach of the camp. 2000 USA Olympian Staciana Stitts will be the "Olympian in Residence" and Dr. Genadijus Sokolvas, Director of Physiology for USA Swimming, will also be on hand.
USA Swimming hosts six regional camps each spring for experienced athletes 13-years old and older. To qualify for the camp, the athletes must have met a standard qualifying time. The aim of the camp is to train, interact and teach the athletes the benefits of working in a national level environment. The camp consists of five water workouts, classroom sessions, and dry-land activities.
" I am extremely excited and proud to be asked by the national governing body of our sport to direct this camp," said Litzinger. "It will be a great experience for all of the athletes and, of course, great for the University of Utah to play host."
