- Utah is 6-1 in Mountain West Conference openers and 4-0 at home. The Runnin' Utes only loss in an MWC opener was at San Diego State (58-56) on Jan. 18, 2003.
- The Utes take a 75-41 lead in the all-time series against New Mexico and have won 13 of the last 19 games. The Utah win breaks a two-game losing streak to the Lobos. In games played in either Salt Lake City or Albuquerque, the home team has won the last seven games.
- Utah is 50-5 against New Mexico in Salt Lake City and have won 17 in a row. The Utes haven't lost to UNM in the Huntsman Center since falling 79-76 on Feb. 16, 1989.
- In conference home games over the past 12 seasons, Utah is 79-4. The Utes' winning percentage ranks first in the nation over that period.
- The Utes improved to 7-1 when they outrebound their opponent this season.
- Utah tied a season-low with 12 turnovers. Utah also had 12 against Adams State on Dec. 19.
- Senior forward Bryant Markson had a career-high 24 points. It was the second 20-point game of Markson's career. His first 20-point effort was against Colorado State on Jan. 17, 2005.
- Markson had the 10th double-figure scoring game of the season and the 36th of his career. Markson had reached double figures in points in the first nine games this season before missing that mark in the last two.
- Sophomore guard Johnnie Bryant had his sixth double-figure scoring game of the season.
- Senior guard Tim Drisdom did not play due to a bone bruise in his left knee. His status is day-to-day.
- Junior forward Ricky Johns followed up a career-high 16 points against High Point with eight points versus New Mexico. He has scored more points in the last two games (24) than he had in the first 10 (21) this season.
