PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah men's and women's swimming and diving team opened the 2006-07 season on Thursday night with the Beehive Relays hosted by Brigham Young University. The meet was non-scoring and was an opportunity for both schools to showcase both new and returning talent.
In the relays the men and women won six and five events respectively. "The guys did a tremendous job tonight and competed very well," states Head Coach Michael Litzinger. "The women are right where we want to be as well and will be ready to get going against Denver."
On the women's side Alison McIntruff was on the winning relay team four times on the night. Annie VanLeeuwen and Amber Walter participated on three of the winning relay teams as well.
For the men, Jeremy Clark had three victories, as did Marco Ferraro. Andrew Cole, David Johnson, George Evans and Adam Oliver each were two event winners.
The Utes will host Denver University on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at Ute Natatorium. The meet versus the Pioneers will be the first of the season that will count toward the dual meet season record.
