SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team ended the fourth day of the Wilson ITA Central Region tournament on Saturday with sophomore Karine Bourdages winning the back draw consolation.
After a 6-0, 6-1 win in the Round of 16 over Kaja Smole of Denver, Bourdages moved into the Quarterfinals to face Hilary Tyler of Colorado State. The Ute played a three-set battle to take the match 6-7, 6-1, 1-0(5). In the Semifinals, Bourdages battled Gleisy Torres Torres of Colorado. The Ute took the first set 6-2, but was challenged by Torres in the second set, who answered back 7-5. The tie breaker ended in Bourdages' favor, taking the match 6-2, 5-7, 1-0(8). The Ute moved into the finals, where she won by default.
In the main draw singles event, Elizabeth Ferris took on Annette Aksdal of Denver in the Semifinals. They played through two strenuous sets ending with Aksdal taking the 7-6, 6-3 win over Ferris.
