Utah's Sterling Richards Named MWC Diver of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior Sterling Richards was named the MWC Men's Diver of the Week after his performance at the Air Force Diving Invitational last weekend. This marks his fifth weekly award this season and his eighth career award.
Richards, a Salt Lake City product, won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events at the Air Force Invitational. Richards led the field from the preliminaries through the finals in the 3-meter event. The senior scored 363.85 points in the prelims, with 18 divers competing overall. Richards then scored 357.50 points in the finals to beat out the top eight finishers for the win. In the 1-meter, Richards tallied 339.25 points. Richards' win in the 3-meter sealed the Utes' win over the Cowboys.
Richards and the rest of the Utes are back in action tomorrow, Feb. 2, when they take on in-state rival BYU in Provo, Utah, in both teams' final dual meet before the MWC Championships Feb. 22-25.
