THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah swimming and diving teams travel to Oklahoma City, Okla., to compete in the Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships held at the Oklahoma City Community College Aquatic Center. The meet begins Wednesday and continues through Saturday.
The women won their third straight MWC regular-season title with a perfect 8-0 record in conference dual-meets. This marks the women's second straight outright title and undefeated conference season. At last year's conference meet, the women's team finished third with 607 points.
The men finished the regular season with a 2-3 conference record to finish in fourth place. The men look to improve on their fourth-place finish at last year's championships after tallying 560.50 points.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Michael Litzinger:
"Our student athletes have worked hard and focused for this meet all year. Both teams are in great shape and ready to peak at the MWC Championships. It will be a great three-team race on the women's side between Utah, BYU and UNLV, while the men are looking to make a statement after being picked 2nd to last in the preseason."
TAKE NOTE:
Jonathan Larsen looks to win his third-straight 100 free title ... Sterling Richards will defend his 3-meter diving title for the third straight year ... Kelsey Patterson is seeking her second straight 3-meter diving title ... Alison McInturff won the 100 and 200 free events at the 2006 MWC Championships ...
